February| Black history

Starting this first day of February recognizing Black History and those that set the pace for accomplishment and change. From Hatti McDaniel, the first African American to win an Oscar, Janet Collins, the first black prima ballerina of the Metropolitan Opera House to Thurgood Marshall, the first African American appointed to the Supreme Court and Sherman 'Jocko' Maxwell, the nation's first African American sportscaster. Black culture is made up of many truths intertwined with all races of people which makes celebrating the effort and passions of those who wanted equality for all people such an important reflection on our nation's history.
